چکیده

Spacecraft require all manner of both digital and analog circuits. Onboard digital systems are constructed almost exclusively from field-programmable gate array (FPGA) circuits providing numerous advantages over discrete design including high integration density, high reliability, fast turn-around design cycle time, lower mass, volume, and power consumption, and lower parts acquisition and flight qualification costs. Analog and mixed-signal circuits perform tasks ranging from housekeeping to signal conditioning and processing. These circuits are painstakingly designed and built using discrete components due to a lack of options for field-programmability. FPAA (Field-Programmable Analog Array) and FPMA (Field-Programmable Mixed-signal Array) parts exist [1] but not in radiation-tolerant technology and not necessarily in an architecture optimal for the design of analog circuits for spaceflight applications. This paper outlines an architecture proposed for an FPAA fabricated in an existing commercial digital CMOS process used to make radiation-tolerant antifuse-based FPGA devices. The primary concerns are the impact of the technology and the overall array architecture on the flexibility of programming, the bandwidth available for high-speed analog circuits, and the accuracy of the components for highperformance applications.

Developing large-scale field-programmable analog arrays for rapid prototyping

Field-programmable analog arrays (FPAAs) provide a method for rapidly prototyping analog systems. While currently available FPAAs vary in architecture and interconnect design, they are often limited in size and flexibility. For FPAAs to be as useful and marketable as modern digital reconfigurable devices, new technologies must be explored to provide area efficient, accurately programmable analo...

Fault Injection Emulation for Field Programmable Analog Arrays

We present a practical and economical method for physical fault insertion in analog circuits using Field Programmable Analog Arrays (FPAAs) for use in the development and evaluation of manufacturing and system-level tests for analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits and systems. The method involves the manipulation of configuration bits used to program the FPAA to emulate catastrophic faults...

Field Programmable Mixed-Signal Arrays (FPMA) Using Versatile Current/Voltage Conveyor Structures

Field Programmable Mixed-Signal Arrays (FPAA) designs are reviewed and standard building blocks described with respect to circuit parameters and design limitations. The second-generation current conveyor is introduced as an analog building block with properties similar to those of an operational amplifier, and which has the potential for high frequency operation. A current conveyor can be imple...

Field-Programmable Learning Arrays

This paper introduces the Field-Programmable Learning Array, a new paradigm for rapid prototyping of learning primitives and machinelearning algorithms in silicon. The FPLA is a mixed-signal counterpart to the all-digital Field-Programmable Gate Array in that it enables rapid prototyping of algorithms in hardware. Unlike the FPGA, the FPLA is targeted directly for machine learning by providing ...
